[Jul. 15th, 2006|01:46 pm] |

So yeah got a bit bored, so whacked this out on the graphics tablet. Not too bad. Might tighten it up, see if i can get some prints or something done.
So Ali is planning something seriously wacky for next week's comics. Its pretty darn different from the regular fill. I think people will like it, but perhaps too much. But you'll have to wait til monday to see that. |

So being the maverick of leisure that I am, I decided to go check out Pirates of the Caribbean 2 - Dead Man's Chest yesterday. I wasn't intending on rushing down to the cinema on the opening day, just happened to be especially bored and in need of some light entertainment.
Now I can't be bothered to do an in depth review with spoiler warnings plugged all over the shop.
I think my main point would be when you relate to a film ... not necessarily "Oh me and Barboza are like clones", but just feel that its got that right mix of everything to make it good old fashioned entertainment. I got that with the first one.
Now I'm not saying the second wasn't entertaining, I found it to be great fun, but I just got the feeling that this one wasn't for me. They toyed with the characters so you weren't sure who's side you were on, which certainly allowed the odd twist and turn, but you couldn't really get behind a cause as they were all so skewed in motivation.
There were plenty of thrills and spills and welcome returns which made it happily trot along, with enough pirate jargon to keep Long John Silver at bay.
I can't quite say how good a film Dead Man's Chest was without the third. As it leaves it so open ended, leaving such an unsatisfying resolution and the mouth watering taste of things to come ... which is kind of the best sort of film making you can do.
So Captain Sparrow and Co. you have me hook, line and sinker, please don't fry me in cheap oil and serve me to some overweight builder in a fish and chip shop a la Matrix Trilogy. |

| Cracking ... Crack |
[Mar. 29th, 2006|08:52 pm] |
So I drew another picture of The Lonliest Zombie. Who knows, something might come of it.

I was pottering around The Video Club's ex-rental bin today and saw Wallace And Gromit - Curse of The Were Rabbit staring at me. Now I knew I had to buy something, mainly because I endured a dank bus journey next to people that smelled like cabbage. So I bought it.
I kinda wished i saw it in the cinema, because after all the hype and the horribly embarissing Oscar speech it left a bit of a stale taste in my mouth. Course I'm not the demographic. This is fr kids and Americans who think everyone in England wears tank tops and live in country mansions.
I dunno, it was almost playing up to the crowd a bit, rather than in the old 30 minute shorts, was genuinely quirky and British, but in a way where I didn't want to tear my face off.
I dunno, it wasn't that bad. But I was kinda disappointed. Ah well, win some lose some. |

| Totally Yeah. |

Wow. Been a while hasn't it. Yet very little has happened for me. I haven't been in the comic in what feels like forever. But its kinda good in a way as I've got a bit more time to work on my own things.
Been watching ridiculous amounts of DVDs and such alike. I was browsing HMV and picked up some super cheap ones including Fight Club which I'd always intended on owning, as well as Rules of Attraction which I bought on a whim and turned out to be a pretty cool film indeed.
Tried watchin Snuff Box on BBC3 last night. Had the american guy outta Mighty Boosh as well as the Doc Sanchez out of Garth Marenghi. I liked bits of it, but a lot of it just wasn't so good. Especially when Green Wing is on at the same time.
There's loads of things I want to be spending my cash on. But I couldn't resist this little nostagia trip. I mean come on. This was childhood gold. So hopefully that'll arrive tommorow.
I've been writing and sketching bits and pieces. Who knows it may surface some day. Though my motivations taken a bit of a hammering for reasons best known to itself.
So yeah here's a picture of a zombie wondering if its all worth it.

I feel like doing a painting. Maybe I will. |

| To The Bandwagon Cave |
[Jan. 18th, 2006|11:56 am] |

So I know I said I wasn’t going to do a Batgirl picture, but this is for bitching purposes, so it doesn’t count.
Arguably the best thing about the internet is the speed of things. Email crosses the globe instantaneously, news updates the second it happens. But perhaps fastest of all are bandwagons.
Now don’t get me wrong, I’ve got nothing against the Batgirl thing. Like every webcomic fan I enjoy bonus content, if its in the form of a hot comic book character, then its just grand in my book. But the problem with nice innocent fun is the ones that think.
These are the people who preorder Xbox 360s to sell on eBay at hideous marked up prices, they just jump on the bandwagon to see how far it can take them, whether it be in search of exposure or gained number of hits. They understand that if enough people are talking about it, they might be able to get a little slice of that cake.
From what I’ve seen of the Batgirl things, the quality varies immensely, so it leaves somewhat of a sour taste in my mouth. It’s kinda like the charity bracelets in a way. The original, high quality ones for a good cause were quickly consumed by the poor quality, low grade profit making ones.
Anyway, that’s my thoughts on the whole thing. |

Oh yeah, and the Stitch Storyline begins today. Rock on. |

Damn I'm tired. Seriously folks I have had so little sleep in the past week the bags under my eyes make me look like i got a good kicking by a bunch of thugs.
I know Ali's planning on doing a review of the festival, but I might too, just to add a slightly different perspective on things. All I can say is that it was really really good fun.
(oh yea and Ali's got a brand new auction going, so GO BID NOW if you feel the need.) |

I've been itching to show you guys this. Ali's wanting to get out to San Diego Comicon, so he's selling paintings and stuff. And guess who was top of the list.

Yep. It was a bit of a struggle posing for it, as the cigarettes kept burning out, but as long as Ali was paying for it, I was perfectly content.
So anyway. Help Ali get to San Diego, as well as have a one off piece of artwork of yours truly. Trust me, the photo doesnt do it justice. This is some hot property.

So i managed to dig up a picture i did as a kid. It kinda freaked out my mum, me drawing stuff like this from my imagination ... of course now she realises that it was from life ... or death ... i think im digging myself into an ambiguous hole here.
either way, the reaper can bust some fresh moves ... old skool. |
