Well that kinda sucks. I hope I went glamorously, rather than choking on a pigeon in Trafalgar Square … it happened to my cousin’s friend. Terrible tragedy - feathers and lungs everywhere.

Umm, not exactly sure what to write here, because I don’t really plan on dying anytime soon. But if you’re reading this, I guess you want to read something profound. Here goes.

I was black cloud living in a world of sunshine, and I’m very you (whoever you are) came and stood under me, if only for a rain drenched moment.

I guess I gotta say thanks and probably sorry to my mum, I haven’t been the best son, but I hope I made her proud sometime or other.

To my friends (providing you didn’t kill me), you guys have been the best thing in my life. I thought hanging out in graveyards and smoking was as good as it got, but apparently not. Thanks guys, I’m pretty sure I would have died happy if I was with you lot.

Yeah, I hope no-one ever gets to read this, but what happens, happens.
Take it easy world.

See you on the other side.
Stitch

Its quite flattering with a special scruffy background offsetting my sharp and clean facial curves. So you know, if you actually want to hang my face above you while you sleep, you better get to it ... either that or print out a cropped comic, but I feel the pixelated look doesn't do me the greatest justice.

Yeah.
Now one thing you may not know about me is that I thoroughly enjoy a challenge. Ali came to me with a proposition so foul it made me squirm.

As you may know, he's been tampering with Animal Crossing, and me being the guinea pig I am, he wants to see the effect of such an innocent and pure game on the likes of me.
So I'm not really that up on modern games systems and what not. But news today of Sony delaying the European launch of the Playstation 3 to March 2007 seems seriously bad going on their part.

You would have thought they'd think their technology through before hyping everyone up. Not only do they miss the Christmas rush, but they'll totally lose out to the Wii - which i am intending on investing in cos I enjoy fun things.

I guess they can rely on the uber-keens to just buy US consoles, then buy a European one when that comes out.

But anyway. For the obscene amount of money sony are going to be demanding for this (I've heard rumours of £400+), I can't see why anyone would actually run out and get it ... they'd get driven there by their chauffeur.

Not many things make me jump up and scream at the television. But I came across perhaps the most disturbing advert I have seen in years.

Now Barbie has her very own best friend, Tanner! Tanner is soft and fuzzy, and his mouth, ears, head and tail really move just like a real dog. Tanner comes with a dog bone and chew toys, and you can open his mouth to feed him dog biscuits. When Tanner has to go to the bathroom, Barbie cleans up with her special magnetic scooper and trash can.

Now baby dolls that double as water pistols I can just about take. But come on a magnetic scooper?

This advert litteraly sees the smiling girls make this dog crap on the floor, then manipulate Barbie to magic magnet that turd.

I'm scared ... and I want one ... for research purposes.

So like the rest of the world (should) I saw Snakes On A Plane, you've probably heard all about it. But I would like to emphasise the fact that you should all go and see this film.

Yes its a terrible film, so terrible that it goes to brilliant. Much like digging through the planet and reaching the other side. Its serious no brainer entertainment, and in a world of thorough uninspirement to get off your ass and head down to the cinema, this is a breath of fresh air.

Best thing to do is see it with a bunch of friends so you can just laugh your ass off, and talk about it for hours afterwards. But do go and see it.

Anyway. I think some sequals should be created. A few ideas I've come up with

Snakes on a Train
Disgruntled ticket collector Samuel L Jackson takes on an entire train of snakes armed only with his ticket clipper.
Or alternatively a giant snake is painted to look like a train, and its stomach is filled with smaller snakes.

Other ideas include
Snakes on a ...
Tandem Bicycle, Mini Cab, Hot Air Balloon, Jet Ski, Ferris Wheel.

Seriously folks. If every mode of transport isn't filled with 500 poisonous snakes I shall be quite disappointed.

So I've been busy. Very very busy working on a new project with Ali.
Not much is allowed to be said as of yet. Not too bad. Might tighten it up, see if i can get some prints or something done.

So Ali is planning something seriously wacky for next week's comics. Its pretty darn different from the regular fill. I think people will like it, but perhaps too much. But you'll have to wait til monday to see that.

I'm Not An "Emo"

Seeing Ali looking like a jackass this morning made me think about a few things to do with the current state of subculture these days.

The term “emo” is thrown around like confetti. I am a goth, a non conformist goth but a goth nonetheless. But “my look” is apparently emo.

I used to associate the look of “emo” as kinda nerdy alternative. Weezer being the prime example in band form. But somewhere along the line there’s been a bastardisation between that, punks and goths to create this strange little society of stripes, fringes and androgyny.

I think the term “emo” just a very bad generalisation, such as “chav” or as we used to be called “grungers,” but these little emos seem to be flooding the streets with their impossibly tight jeans and ambiguous world perspective.

I guess this confusion of identity has something to do with the music. First the bands start singing quite melodically (but often too high, probably on account of those aforementioned jeans), then they scream like they’ve been put through a mangle for a bit, then they might sing again.

Emo dancing I find utterly hilarious as well. I think they keep their angst in their fringes so priming it while they bob up and down in a hunched position might relieve them somewhat.

I’m not for or against any of it. I’ve seen, done and experienced all these kids are supposedly “going through” and it’s kind of cute.

Let us just remember that the minute Claire’s Accessories starts supplying you with your fashion basis, you start to wonder how much potency your statement through your identity is making.

So me being the guy I am, I’m going to go and see The Omen. It’s just something I’m contractually obliged to do. Although to be honest I might have my contract reviewed.

Now I don’t know if I was expecting scary, jumpy, freaky … but not funny. I’m not too up on the story, but it seemed very hokey. Example being the terrible CGI impalation of Pete Postlethwaite hurt my brain.

It started out ok. Bit dark, kids screaming and such. Then it just got silly what with Mary Poppins’ evil twin and such a like.

There were a few jumps and such but the kind of jump you know is coming and hate yourself for jumping because of this fact.

There were a few nice unflinching moments that made you wince ever so slightly. But the big scenes had an odour of hilarity, with the biggest audience reaction being laughing at a person getting trounced by a car.

I’m not sure if we’re a bunch of desensitised robots only happy when we can actually see the inner cranium of the victim. But this flick got stuck between a bad horror, and a very bad psychological thriller.

Kids on screen can be scary. But Damien just looked like an insomniac potato that screamed a bit.

Yeah. If you need a horror fix go elsewhere … in fact go elsewhere unless you like over hyped remakes of movies best left alone.

So being the maverick of leisure that I am, I decided to go check out Pirates of the Caribbean 2 - Dead Man's Chest yesterday. I wasn't intending on rushing down to the cinema on the opening day, just happened to be especially bored and in need of some light entertainment.

Now I can't be bothered to do an in depth review with spoiler warnings plugged all over the shop.

I think my main point would be when you relate to a film ... not necessarily "Oh me and Barboza are like clones", but just feel that its got that right mix of everything to make it good old fashioned entertainment. I got that with the first one.

Now I'm not saying the second wasn't entertaining, I found it to be great fun, but I just got the feeling that this one wasn't for me. They toyed with the characters so you weren't sure who's side you were on, which certainly allowed the odd twist and turn, but you couldn't really get behind a cause as they were all so skewed in motivation.

There were plenty of thrills and spills and welcome returns which made it happily trot along, with enough pirate jargon to keep Long John Silver at bay.

I can't quite say how good a film Dead Man's Chest was without the third. As it leaves it so open ended, leaving such an unsatisfying resolution and the mouth watering taste of things to come ... which is kind of the best sort of film making you can do.

So Captain Sparrow and Co. you have me hook, line and sinker, please don't fry me in cheap oil and serve me to some overweight builder in a fish and chip shop a la Matrix Trilogy.

Bit rough, but was pretty good fun to draw.
So I went to a preview screening of Alien Autopsy the other day, mainly because V for Vendetta wasn't showing, and I'm told its something I should check out.

Now its wasn't a horrible film. Far from it, and it so easily could have been, mainly by casting Ant and Dec as the lead roles. For those that don't know Ant and Dec are kind of the Saturday night "entertainment" show presenters, and have become somewhat of an British institution.

But yeah. In terms of recent British films it doesn't come close to Shaun of the Dead, but they still gave it a good shot.
Based on a true story, it worked with narrative rather than the flurry of turgid special effect filled blockbusters. Which was quite refreshing.

Its not a film I would rush out and buy, but I don't regret at least checking it out.
